Landcare Week activities over September – ACT and region

The following is a list of Landcare Week activities in the ACT in September 2011. Where information is available – contact details for each group has been provided. In some cases it has not been possible to provide these details. Typically with most Landcare activities you should wear a hat and warm, sturdy clothes and shoes and bring water and a snack. Equipment is provided if it is a working bee.

Sunday 4 September – Woody weeds removal
Red Hill Regenerators
 9.00am-12.30. Meet directly above Strickland Crescent Deakin, on the second dirt track up from the steps. Tools provided, but we could be a bit short of pruning or bow saws, so if you are happy to bring your own that would be great. Also bring something for morning tea at 10.45am. Flowers should be about to burst into bloom in a big way, so should be a nice day.

Monday 5th September - Weekday working Bee
Mt Rogers Landcare Group

Sunday 18 September – Working Bee Yarramundi Reach
Friends of Grasslands/ANU Fenner School
9.00am 1 2.00pm & 1.00pm 4.00pm. Meet behind the Aboriginal Cultural Centre on Lady Denman Drive.  We will continue our efforts to re establish species in place of Chilean needle grass and other horrors.  There will be 500 seedlings to plant and grass seed straw to lay on previously weeded areas.  Further weeding will be undertaken. Sunday Saturday 24 September - Discover the mountain’s nightlife - Spotlight Walk
Friends of Mount Majura
If you are fascinated by creepy crawlies, critters that flap, glide or squeak, and eyes that glow, then join the Friends of Mount Majura for an evening walk to watch and listen to Mount Majura’s nocturnal wildlife. Wear warm clothes and good walking shoes. Torches and patience are useful. Please bring a gold coin donation.Limited places! Bookings essential!
