A practical workshop on controlling woody weeds along waterways will be held in Quaama next Wednesday 22 October from 9am-12pm.
Leon Miners from Local Land Services in Cooma will deliver the workshop. Leon is a well regarded expert in the field of weed control, with years of experience in working safely along waterways. He will demonstrate best practice techniques for controlling willow, blackberry and other woody weeds.
We will be working in the area near the Barry Drive Gate to Black Mountain. We may be walking a little between weeds.

Canberrans are urged to be on the lookout for infestations of the pest plant Madagascan Fireweed (Senecio madagascariensis) which have been detected in Forde, Franklin, Chisholm, Casey, Lyneham and Crace.
"Infestations of Madagascan Fireweed have been detected in recently laid couch turf in nature strips and other public and private land in the area. It is thought the weed was brought into the ACT as seeds in the imported couch turf," Stephen Hughes, Biosecurity Manager said.
"ACT Government weed management staff are undertaking a program to control the weed incursion as quickly as possible and remove the plants before it flowers and its seeds spread.
"Our weeds team will be conducting further surveys to determine the extent of the infestation and will also conduct letterbox drops and erect signage to inform local residents.
The Natural Resources Commission (NRC) has released a draft report outlining findings and draft recommendations for its review of weed management in NSW.
The NRC is now accepting submissions on the draft report until 6 April 2014. The report and information on how to make a submission are at the following link:
